Dark and Lovely, a well-known and well-respect brand that produces hair care products for women of color just recently passed its 45th birthday. They held a grand event in New York City to celebrate, with many stars in the beauty community attending.
Dark and Lovely is one of the oldest hair care companies specifically for African Americans running today. They pride themselves on the affordable prices of their products. And since an annual report by Target Market News states that African Americans spend roughly $7.4 billion on person care products, Dark and Lovely’s low prices are certainly welcomed.
Since 1972, Dark and Lovely has continued to evolve with the times, creating new products for every kind of style imaginable. Its owners make it their mission to provide their customers with the best hair care out there, from fade-resistant hair colors to deep conditioners and much more.
The trend of hair care products specifically designed for women of color started with the late, great Madam C. J. Walker. She suffered from problems with her scalp, which eventually led her to patent a line of hair care products for African-American women sometime in 1905. She was one of the first women ever in America to become a self-made millionaire.
During Dark and Lovely’s birthday celebration, two new products were released and a tremendous amount of joy and pride was spread throughout the event. Dark and Lovely has been a force in the world of hair care for African Americans and, if the past 45 years were any indication, then it’s safe to say they will continue to be for many, many decades to come.
